Last June, I fished without license, so I paid $250 fine for my ticket, then 3 months later, I got a government check that is $250, which is return from the check I paid. Then yesterday.. I got a letter stated that I haven't pay for my fine and I need to go to court. Called the court about my situation, they said they don't know why they sent me back another check, but I still need to pay the fine.

I wonder should I just pay for it (low chance to reduce fine) or go to court and see what happen? What does the judge usually ask? I haven't been to court before... Can someone help!?
I did call the court, they notice about the refund for my ticket too, they said the other department sent it back to me, but they dont know the reason.. I am sure they know what is happening, but the person who is confuse is just me... I feel helpless...

if you have a paper stating that you paid your fine then go to court and show that you paid it show the date and amount and then explain that after you paid they sent you a check in the mail then that should clear everything up

You dont need to go to the judge, just go to the clerks office or magistrate office and explain what happened and they should be able to fix it there with out you going before the judge! $250 is alot in va its only like $65 -$75. Good luck
