Fishing help. PLEASE?

I just recently purchased a fly fishing pole (6 weight), and are wondering what I should do. Ive been fishing for Pink salmon in the puyallup river lately with my spinning pole, but I want to use my fly fishing pole as well. Should I try and go fly fishing in the rivers, even though there are no trout since the salmon are running? or should I wait till the salmon runs are over to use my new fly pole. Any fishing advise pertaining to my situation would help. thanks.

Use that fly rod and tie on a pink wooly bugger, red san juan worm, or a pink egg pattern and catch some of those salmon!
