fish that are compatible together and fit in a 29 gallon tank?

i'm asking for a 29 gallon fishtank for christmas with live plants. i want cool fish with vivid colours, and ones that are compatible together.
also, to cycle a 29 gallon fishtank fastest, what should i do? any tips? thanks in advance. :)
and NOT any guppies or neons please. and no bottomfeeders.
 
I have a 30g tank myself that is now stocked with two dwarf gourami's and three male guppies. I'm planning on adding more livebearers, you may be interested in the same thing. Male gourami's tend to be aggressive towards their own species as they age, I recommend getting one male or two females - if you're interested in gourami's.

Other options include:

*6 neon/lemon/glowlight/cardinal/rummy-nose/red-eye/congo tetras
*6 zebra danios/glofish
*6 cherry barbs
*6 harlequin rasboras
*6 otocinclus or corydora catfish
*3-4 guppies or platies or mollies or swordtails
*6 marbled hatchetfish
