i bought a betta the other day and i bought it a tank and a filter and a water heater... however i think the water heater i got is very high maintenance and i have to watch it and whenever i leave for work i turn it off so it doesn't cook my fish..... and then i get home and its too cold... how do i maintain this water heater (the directions on the back dont say much) & is there another water heater i could grab that can maintain itself... pls help

also is it cool to leave the filter on all of the time or should i turn it off here and there (when its eating)???

its cool to leave the filter on all the time and do u have gravle int the tank lol but yea there are heaters like that

There are heaters that you can set to a certain temperature. Let's say you set it at 76 degrees (perfect temp). If the tank gets below 76F, then the heater turns on. Once it gets to 76F, it turns off. I would return the heater (if you can) and exchange it for one that has a temperature setting. As for the filter, if it is powerful enough to move the food before the betta can get to it, then I would turn it off just during feeding time. Otherwise, if the betta can eat with the filter on, then leave it on.
