i need help heating my fish tank...i cant buy a heater because its too big for my 2.5 gal tank and i dont have any lamps...i can put hot water in a water bottle and put it in the tank, but it waste a lot of water...

Well, there are actually some heaters that are good for tanks that size. Such as...

You can order this one online, but even though it's reccomended for your tank size, I still advise you to set the temp a bit lower then you want it at (Around 78).

Until you get it, just keep a thermometer in there and I guess add some warm (not hot) water every so often. If you're putting in 0.5-1 gallons of water, it isn't that big of waste... Plus it's going to a good cause.

Good Luck

Remember : water will heat up to the room temprture. and if you need the water heated you can put the tank near a register in your home.or a window if its hot out.

don't use the hot water in a bottle method. it'd work, but it'd only warm the water around it, not the whole tank.

most tanks have a lid with them. in the lid you put light bulbs. these light bulbs give light and can warm up the water some.

it depends what fish you have. some fish can live at normal room temperatre (not lower than 70 degrees) while some fish (like goldfish) MUST have a heater
