I have a can of Mackerel and a taco kit.
Do you think I could substitute the Mackerel for Hamburger.
you know....taco seasoning in the Fish.
I think it would be different...has anybody tried this?
I'm putting the taco seasoning anyway...i only have so much to work with :)

Ive heard a lot of people using fish for Taco's but I think it tends to make the taco a bit slimy. I doubt if kids would like it, but maybe adults who are health conscious.

I've heard of fish tacos, and I've seen recipes for fish tacos, but none of them have been with mackerel.
I can see using salmon or a nice flaky white fish, but mackerel doesn't appeal to me. Also, I don't think I would use the taco seasoning. Maybe just some lettuce, tomato, avocado, salt, pepper & lemon.

wow
I was surprised at the amount of sites i found on preparing fish tacos. I personally never thought of it until you posted this question. Get creative

In its simplest form, a taco is a tortilla wrapped around a filling, and tortillas have been a staple of the Mesoamerican diet for centuries. Most gastronomes speculate that the fish taco emerged when Asians introduced Baja natives to the practice of deep-frying fish. When this battered fried fish was combined with traditional Mexican toppings, the fish taco was born.

I hope it works out. Here are a few sights I found on fish tacos HAPPY COOKING!!

Uh...I wouldn't use marckrel.
I've heard of fish tacos with talapia, shrimp, white fish and even cod, but not mackarel. I'd think it would be much too salty since it's canned.

Fish tacos are really delicious - once you have the right fish. :-)

Mackerel isn't the right kind of fish for fish tacos and it will taste very strange...but, it sounds like you really want to try it anyway! Maybe you'll love it. Personally, I think it sounds horrible though.

No mackerel is too fishy. You need a white fish...something that is light in flavor. Pan sear a piece of tilapia. Don't bother with the taco seasoning. Just a little salt and pepper on the fish and then put your favorite salsa on it. If you really want to have something good...make your own salsa.
