Okay so please awnser quick! I went to walmart today and bought 2 fat golfish (pearlscale)....really cute....but theres one big problem! At walmart they give you the fishes in a medium sized bags that has a limited ammount of oxygen and i dont know what to do! I aldready installed the tank (i hope i installed it right).....and well it says to wait 24 HOURS until i can put the fishes in! And on top of that i have to leave them 30 minutes with the bag IN the water....im worried they might die of lack of oxygen BEFORE the 24 hours finish....CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLZ! Theyve aldready been in there for 2 hours....

the fish will be fine--there is oxygen in the water--plenty for the fish--they don't breathe the air in the air pocket--water flows over the gills and they get oxygen from that....

umm,you should have already had a tank setup ready, just put them in the tank, they probly wont last any ways cuz you didnt cycle the tank and there from wallmart

Well, you certainly didn't do your research before you jumped in, huh? Your fish are likely to die no matter what (plural of fish is fish, btw. One fish, two fish, see?). Either from lack of oxygen, or from your tank's lack of bacteria, or simply because you bought fish from WAL-MART! Lol Definitely don't do that again, they usually die even if you have experience. There is a lot more to keeping a fish tank than water + fish. There are a lot of helpful websites and books for beginners.

Fish tanks are very rewarding so don't give up, but they can also be very expensive if you don't learn how to do it before jumping in.

Dear BoomBox,

Put them in a bowl of water for now, a deep bowl, not a shallow one.
It will give more chance of life than sitting in that plastic bag!
Good luck!

Regards
Savannah

make sure where ever you put them it has alot of surface area for the oxygen to diffuse into the water. When you get a new tank it can take weeks before your able to add fish. I would go to a fish shop and you can buy the good bacteria in bottles which will help with the cycling.

they should be ok if you put them into the tank. i wouldnt leave them in the bag though. by the way you shouldve had the tank ready before you bought the fish because it needs longer then 24 hours to cycle.

Yup. They'll be fine in a bowl. Or bucket, what ever you have. Just make sure it's clean and has NO traces of chemicals or soaps.
Then when the tank is ready, just put them in. Does your tank have a heater? If so, I'd try to float the fish in the bowl/bucket to let them adjust to the temp. difference.
