Plants ALWAYS help, whether they are fake or real.

Don't worry, it's not uncommon for fish to have pregnancy problems. Try to get some floating plants such as hornwort, and jst leave the female in the main tank, not in the trapper keeper. Free-swimming babies instinctively swim towards the surface for food, so the hornwort will provide them with a good hiding space that the parents can't get into. AFTER you see the babies in the floating plant, THEN you can just scoop them into the trapper keeper. I've had platies that I put in a breeder box and stressed them out. Putting the female in a small space may cause her to abort the pregnancy and wait till another time to release her babies.

There are LOTS of helpful sites on the web. One that is esp helpful is:

Try to search for a situation on the FAQ that's similar to yours. Only directly email them at [email protected] if you REALLY can't find anything.

Hope I helped!

I don't think you should put her in the "trapper keeper" it stresses her out, especially being in a tiny compartment and moving her in and out of it. I think you should just let them be and keep an eye out for the babys instead. Put lots of plants and hiding spots for the babys and put the babies in the "trapper keeper" after birth.
