I just bought two fish...
I have no idea if they're males or females
They're "BETTA" FISH...
HOW DO I TELL?

wow i've never thought about that before, i've had 2 goldfish for about 6/7 years... never thought if they were boys or girls!

Appearance of a beta male is prettier than a female. Their fins are longer, the color are more vivid and brighter.

Males:
Look beautiful and peaceful, but aggressive and territorial. The males have longer tails and fins.. Have better color..

Females: have short fins and short tail... Some female are not aggressive.

Hope I helped.

I don't know. Does anyone? You won't really know unless you get babies - or not....

My grand-daughter Lucy (age 5) had 3 Goldfish, which she called Daisy, Ruth and Bubbles. Unfortunately, Daisy died last weekend and Lucy was inconsolable.

A garden burial was rejected, as was flushing Daisy down the loo. Daisy had to be kept for 24 hours (in case she miraculously revived) and had to be quietly disposed of the next day, during school hours.

Daisy has now been replaced by Sunny (a bright yellow goldfish) and all is now well - but we don't know whether it's male or female - and we don't care, either.

Males have longer "tails" than females...you might not notice this till they get a little older though.
