the same thing happened to us, it turned out that the fish were sick and they did not have the energy to swim around like healthy fish, take all the fish back to wherever you bought them and get a refund, dont get anymore fish from there instead go to another petstore and try to pick goldfish thsat seem active and lively, no just sitting in the bottom or top of the tank., some stores only have a 3 day refund policy, i myself like petsmart they give you a guarantee for 2 weeks on all fish.

Hey so today my parents bought like 15 goldfishes. And one Fighter fish. And after like 2hours all the fish sat down of the tank. Accept for the fighter fish. To me it looked like they were chickens sitting on their eggs. LOL. There are plenty of room for all of them. Like it had been..2 more hours and same thing... like 1 or 2 went up swam then went back down again. We thought they were scared of the fighter fish so we took him out and put him in a bowl. I don't know whats the problem. Then like 5died. !! And we bought them today. My mom only fed them tiny bit. The tank is clean. I can't happen to spot the problem? Any body knows what happens to be the problem?
did you cycle the tank? if not, of course they would die. cycling is when u get water for the aquarium and leave it for a week or so with the filter and heater(if u have one) on. the water must be cycled or any fish would die except for the hardy fish. goldfish die easily and are sensitive to the water. and add chlrorine. they need this or u could use rainwater instead. because rainwater is natural and does not need chlorine. if u did cycle the tank, the other problem would be that the fish were already sick and dying when u bought them. and remember to introduce them by floating the bag with fish in the tank that u are going to keep them in for 15mins.
It could be that you didn't put your tank on before you bought your fish any four nitrIte and ammonia levels are too high and your nitrAte levels are too low. Or they could be sick, I would try adding one teaspoon of salt for every gallon in a cup of water and adding. Make sure no salt goes on the fish though or they will die.
you need to cycle the tank. how many gallons do you have. first you shouldnt keep fighting fish and goldfish together. goldfish are cold water and bettas are tropical. second you would need a really big tank for that many goldfish. they make a lot of waste. im guessing you bought feeder comets because buying 15 of any other fish would be pretty expensive. did you know that they can grow to a foot long?! you should do more research before buying fish
