I took on the task of looking after my sisters two small goldfish (her absolute pride and joy and love) while she went away for 6 months.
Two months by, one of the fish passed away. Now, the other fish, who was once lively and a bit crazy - only sits and stares at its reflection, swimming very slowly round the tank.
The tank is about 35 gallons - and their habitat is very good.
Is this little fishy depressed or mourning, or just very lonely now.
Shall I get him a new playmate? I know they can get territorial when new fish come in, but he just looks so sad!
BTW - the tank is perfectly clean, I got it done by a friend (vet) once the fish passed away.
As I said - the water and tank is fine.
The water HAS been tested, have two filters, cleaners and temperatures. The fish died from eating some of the stones, which have now been replaced with bigger ones that cannot be eaten.
