Fish eating air bubbles?

I put my fish into their new tank yesterday, and they had a whole new filter system in it and everything. They are 2 comet goldfish. The current in the tank is a little stronger than what they're used to, but once they build up some muscle and get used to it a bit then they should be good. The filter makes lots of tiny little bubbles that I guess to the fish look like food. They like to "attack" the bubbles in the tank, and get very excited and eat them. Then one of them will get bored and swim off and the other one will rush to be by his side and follow him.

What is causing them to eat the bubbles? And is it bad for them? I'm afraid that by swallowing too much air they're going to get SBD.

I think it would be wise to check your water parameters, especially Ammonia and Nitrite considering this is a new tank with a new filter so there is no beneficial bacteria to accommodate these fish.

If it is what I think it is, the fish aren't eating the bubbles, they are actually trying to get more dissolved oxygen over their gills because the Ammonia is rotting them.

What to do is perform a 50% water change with conditioned and de-chlorinated tap water as this will dilute any toxins that are building up in the water, but you will need to do water changes daily if the tank is not cycled.
