Ok well my beloved goldfish bobert ( yes BOBERT make fun of his name i make fun of ur face) was in a 1 gallon bowl. (I DO NOT NEED A LECTURE! I KNOW HE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IN THERE!!! PLEASE DO NOT MENTION IT!!!) I got him a 10 gallon today but i am giving it about a month to cycle. (do you think i could give it less time?) I found a free 52 gal tank on our local board at shoprite. (haha) anyways, after Bobert gets settled in his 10 gallon, we are moving in about a month and a half, so we thought we could move him into the 52 gallon after cycling for about a month. Is this to much shock for my Bobert? He is beloved! No rude comments! Also what filter should I get for the 52 gallon? Also, what is a good 55 gallon stand that could also work with this 52 gallon (i no its a weird number) for maybe under 100 bucks? i only get 10$ a week. Its hard :/.... also when we move it will be about a four hour drive hpw do i transfer him???? Thnx!!! NO RUDE COMMENTS!!!!

The only way to tell if it will take less time is by testing the water. Once you see that the ammonia spiked and fell then the nitrites the tank is cycled. Remember you need to add a source of ammonia be it a raw shrimp or ammonia.

No bobert will be fine (by the way that is what we call our friend robert, bobert) Be sure you acclimate him and try to keep the stress to a minimum. The move to the larger tank would be great as well and yep I would also wait until you move for the larger tank.

the best way to move him is in your 5 gallon fish cleaning bucket. Place the filter media in the water fill about 3 inches from the top and add your fish. Close the lid. The air pocket will keep the oxygen in the water during your trip. Get your tank up and running when you get there. Your HOB filter can simply be added to the bucket while your tank is being set up. He can remain in the bucket for a good while.

If you take some of the gravel and/or water from his current tank and place it in the new tank you can shorten the cycle time.

Transport him in good quality plastic bag with water from his tank and maybe put the bag in a cooler, as this will keep it stable and dark. Less stressful for him if he is moved in the dark.

I would get a good 2X4 stand. IF it is just this one fish in a 52 gallon you could probably get buy with a large outside filter.
