Lmao! Ya man, the only data you should need for your purposes is the 5.99 tzones add on. It works over the same network as the tmobile internet plan, just with different port access.
 
Charlie, Opera seems to be working great for me. I've browsed most of the sites I usually frequent. Where can I read about configuring the settings my self. I wonder if I just remove the Blackberry plan and add the tmobileweb plan if Opera continues to work :-) ?

I'm honestly not sure about Opera, but i know i can visit and view almost any website with the integrated nokia browser and the 5.99 web. Modifying the data add-ons will not affect your contract, so you may want to experiment. Google "T-Mobile Data Configurator" and you can find the automated system for configuring your phone, although searching on here should help if you want to manually configure the settings.

Ya, you can pick any of the n series (without wifi maybe) and it'll be compatible. And for what it's worth, i'm trying out the opera browser and it works fine with the 5.99 package, but i like the nokia browser alot more. Easier navigation and it's seems to load quicker. I actually tried posting this from the opera browser and it just kept reloading the page, but not posting. Just my $0.02.
 
I just want to say a big THANKS. The people on this forum have saved me a good chunk of money and gave me a great advice that saved me a lot of head scratching.
 
I think you've already changed your account to the correct settings, but just to make sure everything is superduper clear:
All you need is the 5.99 tzones (or whatever they call it, just make sure its 5.99). It gives you access to unlimited edge data, but with a few ports blocked.

The other plan (29.99) gives you same speed/access, but with no ports blocked and free access at any tmobile sponsored wifi hotspots (i.e. starbucks, barnes and nobles, etc) This completely unessecary for you as you dont have a wifi capable phone.

I for one cant use any IM*programs, but it may just be cause they're expired. I would give them a try anyways, as recently, tmobile has opened some previously closed ports in tzones.

also, with the proxy ip in your laptop browser, you can teather. that is something that has recently been allowed, but still, you will need to set up a proxy exception in your browser.

And just to clear this up... Symtorrent works perfectlly with 5.99 plan. I use it all the time, and consistently get around 20KB a second down, depending on torrent health and signal strength.

Yes I'm on the $5.99 plan + 400 messages plus Basic Voice - Life is good. I wish I could get an internations sms plan or something. My wife is blowing $30 per month just on international messaging
 
There are some SMS alternatives. I think EQO and or Fring may be of some interest. I don't know what countries your wife SMSs to but do any of the phones she sends to have their own email address that she can send email to instead. Like here it might be [email protected]. I don't really know what Tmobile uses but something like that. There are other alternatives. If you were to get your wife a data plan she could surf to the Orange (for example) website and send SMS from the website to her friends or family in that country.
I don't know if any of that helps but good luck.

By the way if she does my last idea then she should bookmark the sites for easier access.
 
I don't know if very many other countries besides the US have email addresses for phones. It is also a possibility that your wifes family or friends have email addresses that will forward to the subject or even part of the body of an email to their phones, just like Yahoo will do in the US. I have other ideas so let me know what works and what doesn't if you need more assistance.
 
wohoo. this is too cool. The config worked for me. I also used it for MMS config. I wonder if I can now send mms to my dad in Europe.

One pet peeve - I get charged extra for international sms messages.
