First Phone

Hi everyone!

I am getting a Motorola V551 from a friend, he's used it maybe less than 2 months, and he's gonna sell it to me for $50.

I'm looking to sync with Bluetooth to my iMac, take quick photos, and sync them back to my iMac, and listen to the odd song, for the most part, I wanna play around, modding it, etc.

Is this a good starter phone?

Thanks for your help in advance, and have a happy new year!

Dont do that, phones are not like motorcycles, where you can hurt yourself if you get something too powerful.Take that 50 bucks, and get a nice smartphone, with a new contract. Dont start with some kind of ancient phone that has features from 3 years ago. I realize you are probably talking about cdn dollars, but spend a few more and get something that you can use for more than just making voice calls, like an used treo 650 would be a good choice for you.

I don't want to start an argument, but the learning curve from a regular phone to cell is not so steep, and for a kid who is interested in gadgets, the learning curve to a smart phone also isn't too steep. you gotta start em young so they wont just think of the device in their pocket as a cordless phone, but instead will get the most value out of the device. It is more like a computer and less like a telephone. people should begin to realize that. So start kids thinking that way from their first device.

The k750 is a great phone, and does a lot of stuff a smart phone can do, plus it has a really nice camera. But if you can spend a little more it might be worth it to get something nice and new. dont forget this device will be with you nearly everyday for the next year or two.
