First movie about alien visitors

I was watching "The Thing from Another World" (1951) by Howard Hawks tonight (having first seen it in the late 1950s), with my 14 year old son.

I wonder if it is the FIRST movie about aliens visiting earth?

I know that Voltaire wrote Micromegas in 1752 about alien visitors from Saturn and the Sirius system, and the movie made from Jules Verne's "From Earth to the Moon" (Le Voyage dans la lune, 1902) in which "moon people" appear (but not on earth).

However, I'm not sure which was the first movie about aliens visiting earth...

Anyone?

Could be the 1930s Buck Rogers. But did those aliens ever come to earth?

And, more precisely, which was the first move showing aliens at the then-present-day earth? (i.e. not aliens at a future earth)

Orson Welles did the radio broadcast of War of the WorlRAB which presented aliens invading a then-present-day earth...
