First E90 Pics!!

well a.) s60 v3 is supposed to scale to screen. So, in theory, it should just look bigger and b.) they might do something fun with the way programs run on the device that keeps the program screen small (ish) but offers you menus or something. We really don't know.

Michale Jerz of www.my-symbian.com has noted that the current built in applications and some programs (that he was able to view in his time with the proto) were configured for the large screen (i.e. option B with the more views/menus/etc)

I am still torn between the E90 and the N95. Why the E90 over the N95 or vice versa?

I wonder if you can see the video you take on the small outer screen. If not then you are guessing at what you are recording and it appears that Nokia really only wants it to be used for video conferencing.

That chrome trim around the phone portion/external shell is so 90's. I wonder what happened to all of Nokia's R&D for mobile phones...did they go third party too in desperation to cut costs? Well they also cut visual aesthetics as well. Maybe if they deleted that chrome trim it wouldn't be so bad. My friend has an N80 which he babies but he says the chrome trim on his is chipping away fast. Do I smell a Pantec designed Nokia phone in the e90? I seriously doubt it since this is modeled after the previous communicators...but an 800x300 screen, not too big of a fan although this might be the solution to my everyday qualms.

I do not think the E90 is sexy at all. I think it is a great looking phone, but the N95 looks better. I was looking at the pics of the E90 compare to the E70. The number pad looks the same, the screen when closed looks very similar. There is a space below the number pad before the "chome" looking bit that loops the whole face. Although larger, there is the "chrome" square below the screen. Even the earpice above the screen looks similar to E70. When closed I think the E90 looks like an upscale E70.

I am torn between this phone and the N95. I was set on the N95 but since I've seen this and looked at the information, its going to be a toss up for me. I had a 9290 for 4 years and loved it, although the size started to get to me by then. See what the full specs are and then think it over.

OMG I want this phone so bad. And it's quad-band GSM. Freakin a, and I'm the guy who said he'd never buy another non-US 3G phone.....twice. dangit. It COULD still have Tri-band HSDPA, nothing's been said as to that, yet.

why is everyone acting like the price of the E90 is such a surprise? I mean seriously, when hasnt a nokia communicator not been like a grand when it is first launched? Now i think 1,000 dollars is ridiculous because it doesnt have US 3G. No way im payin that much for a phone without 3G.

who am i kidding? i am so gettin that phone

I'm not surprised. Just unhappy.

I'm not sure I understand the big deal about 3G. Personally, 90% of what I would use 3G for is web browsing. And at least on the current crop of S60V3 phones, wifi is only marginally faster than EDGE. The rendering engine is the real performance bottleneck and it couldn't take proper advantage of 3G anyway.

Hopefully the faster processor in the next-gen phones will actually make 3G/Wifi browsing noticably faster.

Is it true that this phone will run on S60? IMO Series 60 is great for phones, but not greatest for business devices (i.e., E61) I hope they update S60 so that it supports better sync functions such as sync for contact categories and having all of calendar notes sync over. Also a better layout that looks more like Series 80 when you open the phone.

That's the thing. 3G is fast enough that it enables a whole new level of data usage on your mobile. Streaming is possible, and pleasureable. It becomes more about the multi-media opportunities, rather than just how quick can you check the sports scores.

i think the pics are real but the info is alil wrong. over at my_symbian they say its got GPS!!

man you forgot some:e91,e92,e93. out of all othse i like the e30 most(my current car, thats why)!!

Comparing it visually to the E61 it looks Nokia has made a major improvement in regards to size. It's smaller the the 9300 and I thought that was perfectly sized cmctr. As far as sexiness, let's see some clear live shots before we count this out. There is no doubt that I'm getting this but I want some solid release dates before I take the plunge with the N95. The video capabilities on the N95 are what will ultimately set it apart IMO but the web browsing ability on the E90 looks like it's just going to be sick! I guess you pick your poison with this one.

also...I think the "phone" portion of this phone greatly resembles the E50. The screen appears to be identical to the E50s which is currently the smallest of all v3's (aside from the 5500 but I dont count that)
