First car? turning 16.?

SO I'm turning 16, and I'm having some dilemmas.
I don't want an expensive car, I know that I'll be a new driver, and do not need an expensive car, and don't care if it's used as long as it has under 30,000 miles on it.
I've looked at a couple cars and test drove most of them:
-Honda Civic
-VW New Beetle S
-Dodge Avenger
-Nissan Rouge

but I'd really like to know what is the safest car for a 16 year old?
My grandparents are going to pay outright on the spot so..price limit isn't required, but I'd like it to be lower, because I feel really bad about them doing this for me, when they deffinatly don't have to..
I'm really partial to the bug, and wouldn't mind having the honda inspire either, or even the Prius, but that's because I'm very pro-environmentally friendly, I also like the Ford Edge, and do need something that goes in snow, because we get alot of snow where I live.

the Dodge Avenger has a really cheap interior, and sloppy handling- so i'd cross that one out.

The Nissan Rogue is an SUV, which i would not recommend for a new driver, becaseu they're a lot on gas, and they're harder to handle, so i'd cross that one out two.

the civic and the bug are both great choices, both are safe, reliable, and stylish.

The Bug, to me, feels more solid when you drive it, compared to the Civic. It also has a sportier feel to it.

You didn't mention which models you liked better- is there a specific type you're looking for?

I'd also suggest you looking into the VW Jetta/Rabbit, they have the same feel as the Bug, but they're a bit bigger, so it'll still fit into your lifestyle 4 years from now.

good luck!
