I'm planning to buy a 2006 Yamaha fz6 this week. The owner wants $4,500 CAD for it. It has less than 2000 kms, but has been dropped (at a standstill). I am getting a lien search and VIN check done tomorrow.

Is this bike O.K. for a beginner (I have had some experience riding dirtbikes and an enduro)?

Also, is there anything I should be cautious about when buying this bike/ what problems might I encounter?

Does this seem like a reasonable price for the year and model?

Did you try doing a search for this question first? Questions simular to this get asked everyday, and the answer is always the same.

Bottom line go to kbb.com and see what the bike in average shape is worth retail.

I think It would be a good first bike. I would suggest not buying it until you know the full existent if the damage from its drop and how much fixing it would cost. Also you may want to offer him $4000. You could even wait an just watch for a good deal. There are always good bikes for sell. You really need to check the damage on the bike before you buy it good luck.

GREAT BIKE, super reliable, no valve adjustments needed until 15K miles, easy to ride, super fast, sounds good.
but,,, over here in the NE U.S. dealers are selling brand new 09 FZ6's for $4995, and I tend to think $4500 for a used 06 is high.
My 05 FZ6 with 8000 miles was only worth $2200 as a trade in price, and $3250 selling w/o trade in
