Fireplace questions for building outdoors (on patio)!!?

Basically my fiance is building an outdoor fireplace on our patio. the overall length of the entire unit is going to be 128", the firebox it's self is going to be 22" deep and 48" wide with another 20" (at least) out for the ledge, etc. We are trying to come up with ideas of how and what to build around it. Pardon my language as I don't know masonry terms, but we are looking at using cinder blocks for the outside, and building up at least 2 blocks, we were even thinking of angling it. Any ideas as to dimensions etc would be extremely helpful. If I didn't put in enough information...just ask...again I'm not completely sure what to say....just need help with amounts of brick, etc.

Thanks!!

The amount of bricks that you will need is inconsequential, without considering the other aspects of this, the smoke won't go up the chimney

If the chimney is two stories high, the fireplace opening should be no more than 8x's the square area of the square area of the narrowest part of the flue. If the chimney is just one story high, the fire opening should be no more than 6x's the square area of the narrowest part of the flue.

If the top of the flue (chimney) is less than 25' away from any building which is higher than your chimney the smoke will not go up your chimney, it will simply wash around the patio and smother everyone with soot.

I need to know the size of the bricks before assessing quantities, however if they are the same size as house brick you should allow about 48 bricks per square yard.
