Fireplace an interesting place for fish tank?

Ok, so there's a blocked up fireplace in the bedroom I'm about to move into. I was thinking a cool way to use the space would be to put a fish tank of low-maintenance fish in it.
So my question is, what's the general opinion on this idea? Would it work? Should I maybe put a colouful background up behind it in the fireplace?

this might not be such a good idea, cleaning the tank and feeding the fish, just the basics of keeping a fishtank would become a hassle. and i agree, the air flow would be restricted. i would find another location

i think this could be very neat as long as it was well lit. i would want it to stand out. esspecially if it's on the floor, so a light would help. i've also seen some neat things done with unused fireplaces using candles or decorative vases.
