i recently just sold a shotgun online to an out of state resident. i know by law modern firearms have to be shipped to a federally licensed firearm dealer in that state. but its an antique 1915 shotgun, does that still qualify as modern. would it be legal to send right to there residence? i looked on the ATF website but couldn't find any information.

It's a long story.

YOU can leagally ship long guns to and from your home to the manufacturer and forward them to a new address.

Federal law allows people who are from out of state can purchase long guns in a state they are not resident in.

*IF* the long gun is legal to own in his state (not prohibited by state or local laws), and, it is legal for him to purchase and posess in your state (no unusual laws) - then you should have no problems shipping it to him by UPS or FedEx.......... providing you have not personally sold more than 5 firearms in the last callendar year.

That it is an antique older than 65 years isn't of much consiquence since he does not have a Curio and Relic FFL.

Hope this helps.
