Finishing education? Advice?

Because of things that happened in my family (my parents divorce, gaining weight, family problems at home) I quit school in my tenth grade to go live with my dad in a different country. We ordered homeschooling a bit late so I was a year behind what I would normally be in at school. Now the homeschooling cost $1000 and we do have the money for it but it really could be used to go elsewhere. It's now March, I've already missed the deadline to apply for college. It's still accepting students now but when it's full, I won't be able to get in there anymore.

What I'm wondering is if I should forgo the last year of my homeschooling and just get a GED and a home equivalent (which amounts to the same thing as a diploma). I still have to take my SAT or ACT test and need to study for it as well. I'm afraid that if I do go with the homeschooling, I won't complete it in time to attend college in the fall. So what I'm wondering is if I should just move on in my educational career and just get the GED, take the SAT and apply so I get into my college? Or should I do the homeschooling with the possibility that I won't make it to college in the fall?

There are good and bad things to both ideas. Which should I do?

Also, how much studying do you have to do for your SAT?

Thanks!
