Fingers

Codename: Kids Next Door is one of the few cartoons in which the characters have 5 fingers on each hand. That certainly benefits Numbuh 5, who gives that cool hand sign during the end credits of the show's early episodes. :cool: And a few Disney shows like Aladdin and Hercules (shows with primarily human characters) have most of their characters with 5 fingers on each hand, which look much smaller than those on KND.
 
I'm willing to bet that that's a big reason why KND uses five fingers.

The hands in KND don't animate well, though. They're so big they get to be obtrusive.
 
But if a cartoon character has 4 four fingers, how do they flip people off? That a question I always ask myself when my friends talk about that.
 
As was said before, it is because hands are hard to draw, or rather, far more noticable when done poorly. The hand and face are the two first things we recognize as babies, so it is very noticable.

Thisis also the reason why many cartoon charachters wear gloves, to make the hand easier to draw.
 
It was also so that when Mickey Mouse had his hands to the side, they would be visible. But your reason makes more sense when you think about other characters with gloves.

You read my mind, I was about to post this topic a few days ago.
It really bugs me when people try to draw hands with five fingers and they come out looking really busy and weird, like that Wallace & Gromit picture someone posted on page 1.
 
So he basically used his 3rd finger/middle/ring to flip people off? But then again I considering that there are people that don't count the thumb as a finger, so I guess it appropriate. But it still weird.
