fingernail ripped off

My 6 year old daughter smashed her finger in the car door on Friday. She was taken to the ER by her grandmother and they removed her fingernail. They gave her green mesh to put on her finger where the nail was and said to keep it covered. Her grandmother does not know how long I have to do this for. It was still a little bloody this morning when I changed the bandage. I guess when in the ER, the doctor was taking the fingernail off, her grandmother fainted and broke a rib so she does not remember squat about what I need to do for my girl and she can not find the after care paperwork. Should I let it air out with a bandage for a while each day? How long do I need to keep putting the green mesh on?

I think you should call the ER and explain the situation :-/ and maybe they can tell you. Or maybe even a pharmacy should be able to help you out.

Hope your baby girl recovers soon.

Thank you! I will see if her grandmother remembers what one it was. They were in 3 different ones on the week long trip to Oregon.
She is amazing with this whole thing. She wanted to change the bandages herself. Maybe she can sense that I am afraid of hurting her even though I would never hesitate to give her the care that she needs.

Thank you again for taking time to reply!
