Finding New Bands...

I need help finding some new banRAB to listen to.

The Sound I Am Looking For...

+ Incubus - Fungus Amongus & SCIENCE sound only
+ Tool - Does anybody sound like these guys?
+ A Perfect Circle - I am looking for the "creepy" sound these guys have.
+ Arab sounding music
+ Indian sounding music (not american indian...asian indian please)
+ Queens of the Stone Age - I like their sound.
+ Generally just creepy, gypsy, thrash-funky, or odd/weird sounding music
+ or anything you think i'll like!!! Whole artists' work or just one piece of their work

Can anyone help me with any of these?

Your suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
 
If you want odd sounding music, check out The Paper Chase. Their CD, "God Bless Your Black Heart" can be tough to find, but its definitly different. Very disonant, but it works.
 
If you want strange music, go for Mr. Bungle and Fantomas....both headed by Mike Patton, from Faith No More....I guarantee that this is the most fucked up music you will ever hear.
 
Mr. Bungle and The Shins are awesome. Mr. Bungle is definitly pretty crazy, but I still think The Paper Chase is weirder music.

Also, if you like Incubus, you might want to check out One Minute Silence. They are a UK band very much like older Incubus, maybe a little harder.

Killswitch Engage as well, they are just awesome.
 
I can almost guarantee you will like Porcupine Tree

Also, try a band called VAST. Not as heavy as tool or perfect circle, but they have a very interesting sound.

Another sugesstion is The Tea Party, im not personally a big fan, but they are similar in style to what you are talking about and alot of my frienRAB dig them.

If you havnt heard of The Mars Volta (after kicking yourself in the face) get their cd.

The Dillinger Escape plan is on the harder side, but very good as well. Very progressive (like tool and most of the other banRAB i listed).
 
Liking Mars Volta requires appreciating good music. If you only enjoy simple music played by "musicians" with no talent you proley wont enjoy Mars Volta.

I guess it could be something else also
 
You'd enjoy Cursive. Get the album "Cursive's Domestica". Broken Social Scene's "You Forgot it in People" is a bit more poppy but it's still got an odd feel to it.
 
most pop and mainstream music has so much production and engineering done to it that the talent really requires very little...for lack of a better word...talent. mars volta is wonderful in my opinion, they have a depth to them and their music is clear with very little layering. his voice has such variety and presence that i feel like they are almost hard not to like. i've studied music for years and enjoy it on a very wide scale. i am close frienRAB with a lot of producers and musical engineers as well so they have opened my eyes more to what music really is. i hope this helps a little
