Finding Anime Names & General Anime Q&A

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I'll ask anyway, if its not sorry.

I'm looking for a feel "good" anime, I'm a sucker for like;

The guy saves the world, gets the girl, gets acknowledged by the world, etc.
Similar to Naruto but with more intimacy, and that eventually ends.

As I'm relatively new to anime, I'm just looking for that feel good anime atm, thanks for your help!
 
No, it wasn't that recent. It had much grainier and crappier animation. I'm pretty sure it was meant for kids, though. And I think that main character was a male magician.
