I don't think that that is from an anime per se, but rather from the extra section on the Guilty Gear X2 reload fighting game. Not sure if it's on PS2 but definitely on the X box. Hope this helps.

thats no anime, just the jap commercial for Guilty Gear lol,its viewable on the 3rd game aka Guilty Gear X2

Holy cow, I posted in this thread a over year ago and stumbled across it today. Didn't have luck finding these anime, so I'll give it another try:

About ten years ago, I started watching anime on a local access channel that played movies like "Kiki's Delivery Service" and all the episodes of ''Video Girl Ai''. I immediately began to love these animated films and began finding more on TV. The Sci-Fi channel used to show films on Sarurday or Sunday mornings, this is where I caught "Akira" and "Vampire Hunter D" for the very first times.

But there were acouple of anime that I can't remember the names of:

1. The first was a story about these two groups of warrior-teens, medieval period, who had been destined to meet and defeat this demon man, who either ressurects or turns in to this giant dragon monster in the end. Anyway, they fought with swords and there was this one kid who used a boomerang, and maybe one of the girls was half-cat, and I think one of the guys was this big beast man, and maybe there was an archer too, but it was a mixture og guys and girls, 7 total. Some of them wore armor, I remember a green armor guy and maybe a blue armor guy too. I don't know the name of it, but I really enjoyed the style of it and was trying to find it.

2. The other was about these two present day martial artists (rivals) who are transported to this alternate fantasy style dimension where they become key players in a battle on opposite sides of good and evil. The heroes and villians can transform into these suits of armor and use special techniques to fight their foes. They also rode these surf/like machine-armor things to travel. It was really long, lots of episodes. I remember there were these scenes when they did their special attacks and Japanese lettering would show of the screen. But basically all of the fighters/warriors had special abilities.

3. Oh and I also caught a movie on the Sci fi channel a while back, live action, about this girl, some sort of warrior, she wore white armor maybe, and pretty much the whole movie was about her fighting this monster/guyver looking thing, maybe in a futuristic setting. For some reason I remember it looking cool. what really stuck out was the part where she was taking abreak from the fight and she pulled out some food which was this giant white cockroach.

Anyway, if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about and the names of these films, it would be appreciated.

This is cleary the anime Iria, which was based on the live action movie Zeiram.

** moved from main Anime Chit Chat, sorry guys**

Ok this is something I've been curious about. What's the difference between an anime-babe with cat's ears and one with bat's wings on her head? Like Morrigan from Nightstalkers. How is she different from the neko-chicks?

And no, the Japanese Culture Answer Goddess didn't know the answer to this one either. So does anyone out there know?

For Gammalion:

Difference? You said it yourself: one is a cat-girl (cat ears, tail, sometimes 3-shaped mouth, sharp eyes, pointy nails, not a furry though), the other a succubus (demon, therefore bat wings are a must - because we all know that demons have bat wings ). What do you mean by difference? Behavior, appearance, the way viewers see these characters, etc?

Hey there everybody!

I'm new here (as if it isnt obvious) and love watching anime. One of the first anime movies I saw was aired by one of our stations some years ago. I loved it, but I can't remember the title. It was a space battle kinda thing.

The plot: The human race was all women and they were at war with some sort of weird creatures that were part machines. The women were losing and they were fleeing in a battlecrusier. Every time they stopped and got attacked some of the main characters died. They fought in all sorts of fighters and giant robots. One of the women got impragnated by the enemy and she gave birth to a boy. Anyway, in the end only the boy and one of the girls survive by flying to a planet that looks like Earth.

I don't remember much, but I know that when the battlecruiser fired off its missiles they made a kinda funny trail (they made a hard 90° turn). And after one of the fights when the battlecruiser made it into hyperdrive, they left one of the girls (her fighter was destroyed) and one giant robot behind.

Could you help me find the title, please!

Tnx.

I'm sorry I should have clarified. I think I was looking more for what those symbolize to the readers. So the girls with the bat-wing ears are succubi. Ok that explains alot.

But yes, I was looking for the difference in symbolism. I was given to understand that the cat ears represent that they are "loose" with their affections, so I was wondering if that was true for all anthropomorphic ear situations. Uje, Would you know something more about this symbolism?

Not all bat-winged characters are succubi. You mentioned Morrigan and that's the case with her. Characters with bat wings also have (most of the times) demonic/malefic characteristics. It's a cliche to portrait a demon and it's been done for centuries in art. Horns, red eyes, claws, the red and black colors are also familiar features among demon descriptions. Bat wings are also used when drawing a cute character, it gives a certain "nice but naughty" appeal.

Cats are usually shown as cute (especially anime) and girls with cat ears and tail are just an ideal of "kawaii girl" (and they are cute!!) Cat girls also borrow some of the feline's other physical and behavioral features like an athletic body, sharp claws, poses (ex: curling when sleeping), licking themselves (o.O), scratching when irritated etc. Some other features are: impulsiveness, playfulness and inocence. I found most cat-girls to play a pozitive role in a story but it's not a rule.

There are cat-girl type characters in anime but you'll find many examples of a character borrowing cat (or dog sometimes) features to emphasise their feelings. This happens for a very short time (a panel or two in manga, a few frames in anime) and it's a cliche used for humor effect.

Well, this is mostly my personal opinion, you'll probably understand it better if you observe it yourself ^^;;;

Yea. Just like the Love Hina effect. The anime deviates from the manga -- and ends up sucking. However, I still find it to be watchable -- unlike Love Hina which I could not stand to watch past eps. 8.

And yea. I'm fairly convinced it is Negima also.

I need some help to retrieve an anime because ive seen it already and really liked it, but i happen to forgot the title. It has a girl and boy assasin who works for some crooked inspector/policeman. Theres a scene in a toilet where the girl tries to assasinate some guy and the bodygurads give her hell in some really cool fight scene oh and they have guns which have bullets that explode with a remote so once youve shot the guy you can make a mess by explodin him with the bullet.

Theres also the scene at the start where the boy asassin jacket gets wet by some lil kids so he grabs the ball, throws it up and shoots it when it comes bk down to the kids face level so it explodes in his face. hehe
