I read a book a while ago that I would like to find again, but I have no clue what the authors name is or what the book's title is. If anyone knows a book that meets some of the facts I'll list below, thanks.
It was about some society (possibly in the future) where everyone had masks put on them, that enabled them to have special powers.
There was different grades of people, and a grand ruler of some sort.
The lower grade people had masks that hurt them when they tried to talk, and they were slaves of some sort.
