Financial Troubles and My Relationship?

I have a new relationship and because of the recession I have taken a paycut of about $700 a month. So now little expenses like my phone and other miscellaneous bills I fall short on. I want to break up with my bf because of some of my issues with money right now. I told him my phone would be off and he seems sort of apathetic about it. Am I wrong for wanting him to offer to help me out or is it better to end it which are my thoughts right now, due to the fact that my finances are suffering and having a relationship is harder right now?

He offers me nothing at all financially. I must be spoiled because I have always had relationships with Men that offer to at least assist me sometimes and vice versa!

your lesson here is you have no one to depend on but yourself so you have to take care of you first really they are not responsible for your bills and if this is a new relationship its too early for that if you were engaged or in a long term relationship I could see what you were saying

Wait, wait, wait...you expect your new boyfriend to pay your phone bill? REALLY? Spoiled, no. Good men who offer to pay for things like phone bills are few and far between. Most who do are controlling and abusive (seriously).

But why would you not have a phone these days. I think I would keep some sort of phone simply for safety purposes. And you really can't be doing all that bad of you are on the internet.
