My husband just left for boot camp yesterday and I had signed a whole bunch of papers that stated I would not get any financial support or health benefits for me or my son during this period he's in boot camp. And then today, he calls and says that they had passed a law thursday saying that I do get benefits. I'm just wondering if I get any financial support and health benefits or just the health benefits. and if anyone has any information on why they just passed this law?

I haven't heard anything about this. I will say though in my experience, you will hear a TON of rumors of things that are going to happen. Most of them are not true either. If it turns out that it is true or policy's have changed, he will contact you with the information. Otherwise, you will have to wait until boot camp is over to see any of his pay and get your ID so you can begin receiving Tricare.

I leave for Boot Camp in under a month and am leaving my husband in the same position. I got excited about your post and just searched the net pretty hard about it with no luck. If you find out any specifics please forward them along to me.
