financial help for expectant mothers at university?

i am starting uni in september as a mature student and have just found out im pregnant. i would like to be able to continue with the pregnany but am worried about the situation financially. I work just one day a week as i am required to be on placement during the week so does this mean that i am not entitled to statutary maternity pay?

also what financial help do you get whilst you are studying when the baby has been born? i am not a single parent, we own our own house yet are on quite a low combined income.

Im not really sure as i also found out when i was finishing a course that was supposed to lead to a university degree but i didn't go to uni in the end!

You need to go to your nearest Job centre and ask to speak to an adviser, they will be more than happy to help.

I do know however that if you are on a low combined income you can claim working tax credits once your baby is born
