Financial aid help! reaaaaally need help.?

Apply now. I don't know if the UK will recieve US financial aid. But in america where we go is to FAFSA.com. Thats what i used to recieve a pell grant. You can also go Fastweb.com and write essays to win scholarships. Its that easy!
 
i am applying to college for fall 2010, and i really need financial aid.
My parents' situation isn't awful, but we live in London, UK where both my brother's and i's high school are very expensive. So although my parents can contribute, it will be very little.
I am a US citizen, living in the UK (i have never lived in the Us, but we own a house in ME) and i really do NOT understand all this financial aid stuff.
A few questions...firstly, if i apply for financial aid with a school, can i also apply for government aid? or is that the same? what other forms of financial aid/grants are there?
Secondly, what good liberal arts schools located in New England have VERY good financial aid packages? what is a financial aid award based on? When do i need to submit all information and when will I know what i've received? can i apply to a school and get financial aid LATER?
