financial aid help...independent or not?

Ok so long story short I should be considered an independent student because I am having a baby and therefore will have a dependent receiving more than half of their support from me from 2009-2010. according to my school however, i did not make enough money LAST YEAR to be able to support a child THIS YEAR. the fin aid advisor told me that i have to change my fasfa and DENY that i am going to have a baby so that i will be considered dependent and to submit my parents information along with this change. i changed my fafsa because i didnt want to deal with the hassle anymore and now they're saying that i have to submit a dependent verification form...only problem is I AM NOT A DEPENDENT. my parents havent claimed me for the past 2 years! i am really upset because i live with my mom, but she does not provide any support for me or my unborn child. if they base my fin aid on her income i will have to pay more money out of pocket. i feel like this is really unfair and it is wrong for them to make me deny my independent status. anyone know how to go about fixing this? i have been dealing with all this drama since February and my baby is due in just a few days...the last thing i need is to worry about paying for school in the fall. ...anyone ever experienced something similar? PLEASE HELP!!
i have communicated with the financial aid advisors at my school repeatedly. for some reason they insist that i am a dependent student because i live with my mom and because i made so little money last year. i only worked a few months at the end of last year but have been working all year this year and will have much more income to take care of a baby now....im not sure if they just dont understand or they dont believe me. either way its sooo frustrating!
