Is it true that you must be married or have a child to claim that you are independent on FAFSA? This is a dilemma that my friend is having and the financial aid office isnt helping him much. I honestly dont remember, and am waiting til after taxes to do my FAFSA. Also, what should I put if I am in the process of finding somewhere to live? Is it ok to just put a relatives address that I used to stay at? I think I can claim independent anyway, since I do have a child. Thanks for any help.
