Finally Played with an E90

Went to the Nokia NYC Store for the first time and I was looking around for the hell of it (I had way too much time to waste). A very nice lady had helped me around and I got to first play with the N95. Now I'm way too eager to get mine. We had many discussions about a lot of things (she said that Nokia will investigate on the # not activating Silent on the N95, N80 being sold like hotcakes, etc.) and then we started talking about the E90. She said that there were a few in the store to play with so she took me down to the first level and I got my hand on one.

It is really small, very comfortable to use, and the internal screen is AMAZING. The 3MP AF camera is very nice quality, and Series 60 makes everything better. Comparing it to the 9300 in the store, the E90 just blows everything away. The keyboard is very nice, typing is very easy, basically it is a Sidekick killer. It is a bit wide and somewhat hard to flip open with one hand but it is not very cumbersome like the old communicators. Call quality is pristine. It did have some issues when switching from internal to external screen, but it is a prototype. All in all, it is a phone I would consider getting . . . if only it had AIM! That's my major gripe when it comes to a keyboard phone, it needs IM. Text and MMS, I don't care, just give me IM for the phone and it will definitely be in my pocket. (I know there are free programs and IM+ and Agile to be bought . . . but c'mon . . . I'm cheap!)

At this point it's the only thing that can justify the expense imo. I love the N95 but for the money it should be rolled out with all available 3g frequencies. If Nokia neglects us once again I'm probably going to stick with my N95 for fun and go with another 3g enabled device that can handle BBC and a decent web browser.
