Finally, I have an answer.

For years and years I've had a lot of problems with my digestive tract. I never feel very good and traveling is hard because I never quite know when I'm gadda blow. (So to speak.)

I had talked to my regular family physcian about the possibility of it being caused by IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome ~ Where the muscles of the intestines don't contract normally and can, as a result, cause constipation, bloating, diarrhea, gas, and painful cramps.) since I had been seeing comercials for Zelnorm and noting the symptoms described there sounded just like the ones I was having.

He assured me that it couldn't be IBS and that I was fine. (Basically poo pooing me and labeling me as a hypocondriac since there didn't seem to be a cause for my symptoms.)

Now that was at least a couple of years ago.

Today I'm at my OBGYN who is also a docter of internal medicine. She had written in my charts that she thought I could have IBS and to keep an eye on my symptoms each time I come in. Since this is the third time I've been in to see her in the past year and I have had the same sypmtoms she decided that I probobly do have IBS.

So she gives me a packet of information on the subject and advises me to cut out dairy and white flour products cuz those can make the symptoms worse.

So I've been dealing with these symptoms since I was in AT LEAST 3rd grade and all the while my regular doctor is telling me it's all in my head.

And it only takes 3 visits to a new doctor, who I wasn't seeing for that problem, to diagnose me and finally end the misary.

I tell you what, my regular doctor isn't going to see much of me anymore. That's for damn sure.

Some doctors develop an opinion of their patients and don't change them, others just don't listen or don't care. If you want to know about doctors, call your local hospital and ask to speak to the medical records department and ask one of the coders. They read all the charts and see the results.

I don't even trust them anymore. I TOLD one of my doctors I was allergic to a medication and they tried subscribing it to me ANYWAYS!! (I guess the info got lost in my paperwork of course) I try holistic healing before anything else, besides, if anyone says pumping foreign chemicals into your body is a good thing, they need their head examined. But hey, I'm glad to hear you got treated/diagnosed correctly finally :)

something similiar happened to me

when i turned 18 i no longer had medical insurance so i was using planned parenthood as my gyno

i go to them again and again telling them there is something wrong with me

i would skip periods for 4/5 months at a time and then bleed excessively for 3/4 weeks straight. it sucked a lot!

anyway they keep telling me some bodies just work like that.

finially i get a job that actually has cheap medical coverage - i go to a real doctor and i tell him my problems. they wind up putting something inside my vagina and xraying it. i forget what its called - anyway they find that when i ovulate instead of dropping eggs i drop cysts or some crap

so anyway long story straight i have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). it sucks a lot - i blame it for my radioactive personality. i cant have kids either which sucks. anyway if you feel like reading that down below - its pretty good information

PCOS is becoming more and more popular these days and more and more people are being diagnosed with it. anyway yeah DOCTORS SUCK!

"Why do women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) have trouble with their menstrual cycle?
The ovaries are two small organs, one on each side of a woman's uterus. A woman's ovaries have follicles, which are tiny sacs filled with liquid that hold the eggs. These sacs are also called cysts. Each month about 20 eggs start to mature, but usually only one becomes dominant. As the one egg grows, the follicle accumulates fluid in it. When that egg matures, the follicle breaks open to release the egg so it can travel through the fallopian tube for fertilization. When the single egg leaves the follicle, ovulation takes place.

In women with PCOS, the ovary doesn't make all of the hormones it needs for any of the eggs to fully mature. They may start to grow and accumulate fluid. But no one egg becomes large enough. Instead, some may remain as cysts. Since no egg matures or is released, ovulation does not occur and the hormone progesterone is not made. Without progesterone, a woman

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that icka..but good you got to a doctor that would do a research properly... Hope you feel better ? :hug2:

and I'm so sorry to hear that to mags..:hug2:

yeah some doctors just think that they are the doctors and they know whats right NOT the patient(sp?) knows what's wrong..it's so stupid with doctors with big ego..

I heard this story from my moms friend yester day..
Doctors found out she had cancer in her tonsilles(sp?) so they took it out..but it was only a metastas (a "baby" cancer, so the mother cancer had to be somewhere else) ..
She said she had a soar throat but they began to searh from lower.. you know ovaries(sp?) and up..then they found cancer in her breast and in her kidney..but they where only metastas too..finally they took a look at her tonsilles..and THERE the "mother cancer" was(it was really tiny but still)..and she had a huuug scare on her throat.. there you can see too how doctors THINK they know..but they don't..
and she said the doctor had told her that she had got cancer from her depression..but thats becouse her husband had been ill a long time and then died..and she hadn't coped with it..

Luckily my mom didn't fall into a depression when my dad died..or I or my sisters..or we all fell but not so deep luckily

They did that with my Nana. She's really allergic to Morphine. But luckily she has a super high pain tollerance. So she's in the hospital for surgery and after the proceedure this one nurse is telling her to take her morphine. My Nana tells her that she's deathly allergic to it, as if the bright orange warning sticker on her wristband wasn't enough. So what does this nurse do? She gives my Nana two hits of morphine while they're all pre ocupied. My Nana gets super sick and my Jaja figures out what had happened. The nurse gets suspended. But two weeks later they come in for a check up and that same nurse is working on the same floor. Stupid twit.

My younger brother was diagnosed last year. He's not as bad as you but usually lies down for a while after he eats.

However, I have "The Intenstines of Steel" and whilst other people are puking and shitting their guts out in school, I go home, take one watery shit, and I'm fine. Usually I don't even get sick at all!

"Jim, stay away man, I've got a stomach virus!"

"Fine with me. I never get those."

Oh wow. File a complaint with your previous doctor, at least. Since THIRD GRADE? Good lord.

Icka, I have PCOS too, but it was caught early with me, so I'm pretty sure I can still have kids, and I could even stop treatment in a few years too. Yay.
