Finally - FREE app to keep backlight ALWAYS ON for streaming sites, etc.

I've been bugged for ages with the 5230 - backlight always times out after 1 minute max (set in settings->phone->display), and this drove me nuts when I wanted to monitor incoming texts, watch streaming videos & TV, surf websites that had constantly updating info, etc.

Handful of 'backlight' control apps out there, but always for a price.

Finally, today, in the Ovi store, Flashlight 1.1 by Offscreen Technologies did the trick. Simply keep in running and the backlight will never turn off! Yea! FREE!!

Honestly, why NOKIA still HASN'T fixed this silly problem by simply putting in a control or setting that allows the backlight to remain on until the user says so is incredible!

Not long ago, we used to have Nokias where you could see the display 24/7 w/o user intervention. Why on earth they started taking OUT features is beyond me still.... (no standby clock display?!?....my ol' school B&W bar Nokia had this feature from years ago)

Lol my n97 does this all the time at random when i dont want it to happen. I will take my phone out of my pocket and the light is on, but the phone os locked and battery is about gone.
