Films you hope never ever get remade

I think a lot of the Shits will be cut out on Goonies on Five was surprised how much they were on the Blu Ray.
As it was the first time I watched it for years the other week.

None - ALL films are up for a re-tread, re-imagining, re-making, re-tooling and any other re you can think of.

Nothing is sacrosanct and above all NO NEW FILM ALTERS AN OLDER FILM, IT'S STILL THE SAME AS IT EVER WAS. Therefore no harm, no foul.

I'm hoping the footloose remake keeps stuttering to the point they can't do it. I don't really get remakes if I want to see the film I'll find the original although I did like Hairspray. Back to The Future just would not work. Also can you imagine a remake of Grease that would be wrong, Dirty Dancing too Or Breakfast Club. I want them to get some imagination in Hollywood it's pretty sad that in the last ten years I can't think of a classic that will stand out like all the 80s movies Another one to add would be Stand By Me I love that movie but can't imagine a remake

I started a thread about the shining sequel...I wouldn't mind that but definately not a remake of The Shining because Stanley Kubricks is a masterpiece in my opinion.

I hope they leave Saw as a stand alone film....oh wait 6 years too late to say that.

Hollywood is so fickle at the moment, they see audiences like a film and have to ware it down until the very first film becomes unbearable to watch.

Please come up with something NEW....but that would be ruined by sequels so its a catch 22 situtation.

All About Eve's one of my favourites, but that's exactly why I think a remake would be good. Doesn't make the original any less perfect, the point of remake is not to improve on the original but tell it differently. In August it'll have been sixty years since it's release, I'd love to see a retelling set in the present day, though they'd have a hard job casting the lead roles!

Love the username by the way!

I also liked the new Halloween movies, they get a very bad wrap but zombie did pretty good,i was really sick of the "usual" halloween movies, most of them were the same, the one with Busta Rhymes was a joke, the childhood scenes added to michaels evilness, the only thing i didnt like was Dr loomis character in part 2.

Battle Royale. There was talks of an American remake but it's apparently not happening anymore, which is almost enough to give me a belief in a god.

Heathers - without a doubt, my favourite movie from my early teens. But I can see them remaking and ruining it with Zac Efron as JD, Kirsten Stewart as Veronica and Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato as the other Heathers!

As Heather Chandler would say; 'F*&k me gently with a chainsaw!'

The sound of music should never be remade as the original along with the BBC production was just plain terrible. The only thing they could do to improve it, is by letting the Nuns runaround with machine guns :D.

Seriously tho, films like Gremlins & Short Circuit should be left alone.

I know Yorkie, I'm a huge fan of the Original (Not the Directors Cut I have to say). Just cannot understand how you can improve on a classic! Sign of the times I guess!

I think it was mooted arounfd the time of the Columbine shootings, which put people off a bit.

It would have been good if they could have made it. There were loaRAB of teen shows on the box then, Dawson's Creek, Buffy etc..etc.. and some teen based films like American Pie. If they could have got an ensemble cast featuring the stars it could have been a belter.

My own choice for a 'DO NOT REMAKE' order is 'A Matter Of Life & Death'. The origianl is just about perfect. And 'Singin' In The Rain', for that matter.

In all honesty anything can be remade if the idea and concept is strong enough.Heck, even poor remakes take nothing away from the original and can actually reignite interest in it.

However,I cannot imagine how to recreate movies in which the human element and characters, not the concept, are especially strong.I'm thinking of movies such as Dirty Harry,Cool Hand Luke and On The Waterfront.
