Films you hope never ever get remade

You on the money the those movies better not be re-made but I wouldn't mind if in the future they can touch up the original star wars thats it! and flight of the navigator!

There seems to be a lot of remakes nowadays (are they running out of idea's or something?) but to be honest bar a few, I usually really dislike remakes. I hope they never ever remake the Goonies, there has been rumours about this for a while but I will be very peed off if they remade that classic.

I'd have to say I Spit On Your Grave, but iiuc it's already been done.

I really don't see what the something-new is they can bring to the story to justify a remake.

I'd also like to say Friday 13th but I've lucked out with that one too.

- one movie away from a guaranteed money bonanza of a Friday 13th Part 13, and the ptb decide to remake/reboot/reinvission the series, and in doing so both destroy a beloved character and kill off the series in one swift swoop.

( and btw I'm not one of those Jason doesn't run zealots/fanatics - I'm one of those Jason doesn't (1) set out trip lines with dinky little bells attached by sweet little bows and (2) collect nik-naks and carefully arranged them tidily on shelves - fanatics. )

It already has been remade, but i'm very irate about the US remake of Death at a Funeral.

The British version only came out 3 years ago! I swear they're out to ruin every decent film or show we have... Yet the majority of people out there won't know it's a remake and will willingly go watch that rubbish!

However, i would also hate to see a remake of Alien and Aliens, Back to the Future, One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest or basically any film i absolutely adore.

I heard there will be a 3D remake of Jaws, I deffo don't want that to happen

I'm already devastated with The Karate Kid Remake and Nightmare on Elm Steet Remake

I'd hate to see a modern day remake of Bill Lustig's Maniac. A classic which really should be left alone.

The most impressive remake I have seen is Rob Zombie's version of Halloween. That, however, doesn't mean to say it's better than the original.

Neverending Story or Goonies. I'd actually be angry if Goonies was remade. Any of the original Star wars movies but i wouldn't mind if they decided to remake episode 1-3, might be interesting. Actually, movies that have a great idea/story but weren't quite executed right should be remade and not the classic ones.

One movie I'd like remade (wrong thread but still) is Battle Royale - but set it in modern day Britain. Take a bunch of Asbo kiRAB, plonk them on an island, and just let them batter, stick, and have at each other.

I'm surprised by that - many people seem to hate it.I thought it was as good as could be expected, considering the fornat has been done to death.I admire Zombie for trying to bring something different and believable to the table, such as Myers' f**ked up childhood gradually turning him into a monster, and for adding his own little directoral idiosyncrasies.

Lost Boys.

Still there is always the chance a remake would be good in which case I get a good film to enjoy and if it's bad I can be all smug about how it's not as good as the original and did out my old VHS copy to bore people with.

Back to the Future Should be left alone.
Home Alone would be all wrong in this decade
Also Flight of the Navigator which should be left alone but heard they are doing one in 2011.

Also heard they are doing another Planet of the Apes which should also be left after the 2001 film.

And The Fog 2005 was so bad after the 80s film I never watched it.

Read they are also doing The BirRAB but won't ever be like the first one.

Also Neverending Story & The Goonies as above.

For anyone interested, Goonies is on Five this weekend:)

As for the planet of the apes, its a new film entirely, a prequel - not a remake.

I would go with BTTF as well.

The Wizard of Oz you refer to IS a remake!! the original, some 14 years earlier was terrrbile! and one of Oliver Hardy's first films.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0016544/
sometimes, remakes do work.
however - I dont think they will ever further remake WoOz, as they havent so far (bar reimaginations of the orginal books) and its TRUE Hollywood gold.
A new cinema realease and clean up of the 39 version would be great :)

The news that a possible remake of The Warriors could be on the carRAB has ruined my day! I went with Mrs YorkieUK to see that many years ago when it first came out. Hard to believe the film was made over 30 years ago in 1979.
