Films You Cant Buy Anymore

I was after Touching The Void and East Is East, and then I saw that they were being re-released. Walked into Virgin Megastores this week, and there were a load of Film Four DVRAB repackaged. These two haven't come out yet, or at least they weren't in stock, so I'm sure Sexy Beast will follow shortly as well

What is worse though is when there is a boxset of films, three of them I have got and purchased elsewhere, and then the other one, which I really want, is not available elsewhere on it's own in Region 2 format - Treasure Of The Sierra Madre for example. I had the same problem with Dial M For Murder. You then have to pay a bit more to get it off E-Bay

The Amazing Mr Blunden is one of my all time favourites.

I recorded it from ITV in 1986 and that was the only version I had until the dvd.

Anchor Bay ,like all non studio dvd labels licence films from their owners and that licence lasts for only a set amount of time.

Thats why as soon as prices drop its a good idea to snap them up.

Dial M For Murder well under a tenner on R1.

Why bother with R2?

But this week HMV are selling the Warner Hitchcock set that includes DMFM aswell as 4 or 5 other movies and the whole set is

I bought Dial M For Murder 12 months ago and got it fairly cheap. I can't be doing with Region 1 as my Home Cinema DVD player system won't play them

BBC2 showed the film twice in recent times so they may not show it again.

I waited for the BBC to show it for 20 years and then they went and screened it right after the dvd came out

IIRC the Psycho documentary is only available on R2 in the 4 disc Psycho Collection.

There was much fuss when the 2 disc set came out and it still wasn't included.

Even the UK VHS release around 1998 had a 15 minute excerpt from it.

Its on all the R1 versions.

Thanks, but I don't even own a VHS pleyer anymore after mine broke and I didn't replace it.

When redux came out I thought it would be at least an extra on that. I don't know why it hasn't been released, on region 1 at least, it's by far the best "making of.." doc I've seen and an excellent film in it's own right. even if you weren't keen on the film, the story of it's production is amazing

The 3rd one was never banned.

It created some controversy at the time of the James Bulger killing because of unsubstantiated theories that his killers had watched the film.

It was still available but stayed off tv for many years.

There is just so much product available on other regions thats not out in the UK that a multiregion player is essential for fans of movies and tv shows.

And dont forget the import is usually cheaper than the UK dvd
