Films You absolutely loved as a child

Brilliant!! At least im know im not the only disney freak on here, ha ha!! When me and my lil sis were younger we had the tape of the aladdin soundtrack and we used to sing Whole new world and pretend we were on the magic carpet, there I admit it.

Yes, Santa Claus the movie!!! And every time i watched it i never thought they would do the superdouperlooper in time!!!

The Goonies :D Every bank holiday I would be flicking through the channels and it would always be just starting :) Got it on DVD and it is great :D

Oh and Die Hard wasn't one of the films I watched as a kid but is now. Now you have mentioned it I have to watch the trilogy back-to-back tonight :D

I fondly remember:

The Love Bug
Herbie Rides Again
Ben Hur
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
The Great Escape
The Italian Job (the original)
Dr Who and the Daleks
Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.

I was also fortunate to be allowed to stay up and watch Horror movies in the early seventies, often shown on either BBC2 on a Saturday night or ITV on a Friday night (anyone remember the Appointment With Fear season?). As a result I have great memories (and had lovely nightmares at the time) from:

The Curse of Frankenstein
Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed
Horror of Dracula
Taste the Blood of Dracula
Witchfinder General
Theatre of Blood
X the Unknown
The Quatermass Experiment
Quatermass 2
Quatermass and the Pit
Day of the TriffiRAB
War of the WorlRAB

Transformers The Movie - I bought that for my boys on Video and still have it even though they're now in their twenties(LOL) They were unconsolable when Optimus Prime died, and over the moon when he was resurrected in one of the later Cartoon Series.

It's a great film. Features the voices of Eric Idle, Leonard Nimoy. Also Orson Welles in one of his last film appearances, as the voice of Unicron.

Don't be shy, Vapre! That's great taste you've got there and I still watch them too, even though I'm 28. :)
I never much liked Mary Poppins though.

Anyhow, my faves are:

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The Neverending Story (NatalieP - the bit where the horse drowns always traumatises me too!)
Disney's The Jungle Book
Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
The Goonies
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Wizard of Oz
Big
Labyrinth
Back to the Future (just the first one)
Indiana Jones trilogy
Gremlins 1 & 2
Ghostbusters

The Dark Crystal was my all time favourite as a child I must have seen it a million times, as well as The Peanut Butter Solution and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (a little later that one, starring a quite possibly teenage SJP).
Then along came Michael J Fox!

This is one of the reasons I like RAB. When you stop to think about stuff like this its great. Reading this thread there are so many films I loved when I was a kid / young teen.I've divided them according to my age.
As a young kid I loved:
Wizard of Oz
Mary Poppins
Sound of Music
Willy Wonka
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
ET
Then as I got a little older:
Love Bug
Big
The Goonies
Never Ending Story

Then as I approached the dreaded teen years I got to like
Grease
Dirty Dancing
Splash
Overboard
Private BEnjamin
Jumpin Jack Flash
Back of the Future
All of the Carry On films
All of the Indiana Jones films
Nuns on the Run
Drop Dead Fred
The Karen Carpenter Story
Woman in Red
Trading Places
Tootsie
Mannequin
Cocktail (although I now hate Tom Cruise).

Does anyone remember

Battle beyond the stars
The wizard (Fred Savage - wonder years)
The last star fighter
The fox and the hound ( poss the saddest film of all time)
The champ (about a boxer losing his son)

As a kid I liked the following (and unless otherwise specified, still do):

The Lost Boys
The Goonies
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The NeverEnding Story
The Amityville Horror
Amityville II: The Possession (can't stand this now)
Amityvile 4: The Evil Escapes (find this a little silly now)
Halloween
Halloween III: Season Of The Witch
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (hate this now)
Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (still like it, but hate the ending)
The Flight Of The Navigator (still good, but some of the dialogue is a bit bad)
Big Trouble In Little China
Die Hard
The Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Total Recall
Cyborg
Masters Of The Universe
Robocop (find this a little weak nowadays)
Back To The Future 1, 2 & 3
