Films You absolutely loved as a child

Just wondering what all you film fans used to love watching as a nipper.

Mine were Little Monsters (80's flick starring Fred Savage)
Short Circuit
Labyrinth
Wizard of Oz
Grease
Dirty Dancing (Patrick Swayze, my first ever crush!!)
Mary Poppins
Splash

I am aware that many of these are in most hated films thread but never mind, I was but a child!!

Ghostbusters
The Dream Team
We're No Angels
Flight Of The Navigator
Clue
Back To The Future
Home Alone 2 (if only for the bit where Tim Curry is told to "get down on your knees and tell me you love me")
Grease 2 (still my favourite of the Grease movies)

All of them still great in my opinion - I must have had taste beyond my years :) Other than that or I just never grew up ;) I own them all on DVD and still watch them regularly.

How could I have forgotton Supergirl and Flight of the Navigator, both classics I must say!!

I also loved Petes Dragon, anyone know that film, loved it to death when I was younger (and must admit I still do).

Pete's Dragon is my girlfriend's favourite film from her childhood and I must admit I'm quite partial to it myself :) Jim Dale from the Carry On films is suitably hammy in it.

my favs as a child and some of these I still love to watch :o not saying which though...

The Neverending Story
Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory
Wizard of Oz
Mary Poppins
Labyrinth

Yeah but when the horse dies in the quicksand it was one of the most traumatic moments of my childhood!!

My hubby loved BMX bandits, never heard of it myself!

yep, i remember that, not sure if i watched it as a kid but i suppose i must have, it was on tv last year i think, got a segment of it on video,

love both short circuit films
The goonies
The flight of the navigator
Tenage mutant ninja turtles
Home alone kevin
Doctor who (By the beeb and that american film company)
and many more

I went down memory lane last year and found out the names of two films that i had watched when i was very young (before i was seven)

the first was 'The war of the worlRAB' what a great film, as soon as i got home and put the DVD in memories of the scenes came flooding back. The DVD was a 50th aneversary edition.

The second was 'The blob' i remember this so well and just after i found out the name of the film and found pictures on the net to confirm it Channel 4 put it on at about 1 in the morning so i thought "wheres a bloody blank tape" and set the video, i wasn't going to miss this oppertunity, i went downstairs early the next morning (un-usual for me) and watched it

Both classics, by the way, this may not ring a bell with anyone but i hope it does, one night when i was going up to bed (before i was seven, again) i remember my dad watching a film (channels 1-4) which had a boy in it (about 19 or so) he was running down an alley or street at night and there was a third eye in his head, i seem to remember him feeling the back of his head and screaming, i also have the feeling that there was a doctor who moved the boys hair out of the way to examine the third eye, hope someone can name this film as i would like to see it again

phew, what a great thread, thanks for any help

i also rember watching a film late night on on ITV when i was about 9-11yrs old with dennis quaid, about a war between humans and aliens and they hate each other with a passion and quaid and this alien crash on a planet and have to trust each other in aid to survive, i think the alien dies but gives birth to a baby which quaid looks after, tho i might be wrong bout the baby bit.

think i found it: enemy mine

1985, Science Fiction, PG-13
Director: Wolfgang Petersen With: Dennis Quaid, Louis Gossett_Jr., Brion James, Richard Marcus, Carolyn McCormick, Bumper Robinson, Jim Mapp, Lance Kerwin, Scott Kraft, Lou Michaels

Willis Davidge (Dennis Quaid) and his fellow Earthlings are fighting the Draconians, lizard-like beings from a distant planet. When his spaceship crashes on a planet, along with the enemy he was battling (Louis Gossett, Jr.), he and the enemy realize they must work together to survive in this alien world. The huge budget doesn't help make this a hit movie.
