Films which make you...

This was inspired by the music thread. I'm infamous for crying at films, but definitely my most lump-in-throat films are:
West Side Story
Truly Madly Deeply
The Mission
Signs
Ice Age :o (had to be comforted by my 5 year old nephew, who told me it was only a story but I could hold his hand if I wanted to...)

Films guaranteed to make me laugh, no matter how often I see them:
Shrek
The Producers
Airplane
Wayne's World
The Aristocats
The Jungle Book

...what's yours, folks?
(Not your favourites, but the ones most likely to provoke an emotional response)

Gawd all these arty films make me feel cheap and unclever.

But one film the whole family can watch right through with no pause and totally absorbed is Where Eagles Dare, in my daRAB later years he would always fall asleep in front of the telly, but no matter how many times we watched it he would sit wide awake and paying full attention. It is over 2 hours long but honestly it never seems more than 10 minutes. Not the greatest film of all time but it can't half keep you watching, just glad I recently got the DVD, cos the video copy is severely showing its age and use.

Emotionally I am a bit of a hard nosed twerp, but my sister does cry during Titanic, when the ship sinks, like me she can't wait for Leo to do the decent thing, cos that bit does drag on a bit.

The list of films that have made me cry is very very long (I should explain I've been know to have a sniffle if someone really really likes their garden in Ground Force :o ) but for complete emotional breakdown

Schindlers List
The English Patient
Gone with the Wind
Brassed Off

I also howled like a baby during the Four Weddings funeral bit. Mind you I also started crying on the bus yesterday on the way to work as I finished my book :(

Titanic is a weepy for me every time :o But men show no emotion....honest.

Brassed off is the saddest film I think (the middle bit where hes in hospital). My partner walked in when the sad bit was on (I said my contacts were irritating my eyes - I dont think she believed me).

I laugh at any Austin Powers or any film with Mike Myers.

**sniff** I'm all emotional now!!

You sound very like me in this respect. Hubby has given up asking 'are you ok?' in sad bits of films - he just puts his hanky in front of me so I can borrow it when needed!

I also cry at sad bits in books. There is one called 'Red Sky in the Morning' which I've read with classes at work, and there is one bit that has made me break down in tears in front of more than one class! Ditto with the end of 'Of Mice and Men'. I like to think of myself as a sensitive soul!

I'm not a big cryer at the movies but Schindler's List had me in tears for the best part of three hours. A TV show on BBC 2 called Early Doors literally has me in tears followed by my peeing myself with laughter. :)

To go ever so slightly off topic, did anyone actually find Blair Witch Project rather tedious after all the hype it recieved at the time. Mind you it was only about ten minutes after I left the cinema that I got the significance of the final shot.

Okay, we have emotional music (sniff), the unbearable dog thread, horror stories of drunk drivers, and now weepie films! What's with this forum today?

How about something that makes you laugh hysterically?

Oh the end of 'Of Mice And Men' is just about the saddest thing I've ever read, I was in tears for about 10 minutes afterwarRAB...poor Lennie :(

There is too many movies that are very sad but if there is one movie which always makes me laugh even though some may say is it a bit dated now is Stir Crazy with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor!

Bambi ...they showed it at the local community centre when i was 7 and i just couldnt hold back the tears when BANGGGGG and he went calling out for her ...*sniff* ... i ran out and had to get home

the champ ... with jon voight ...come on i was 17

the deer hunter ... Noooooo dont let him shoot himself

films i laugh at so much

king pin..... the night he slept with his landlady to cover his rent ...omg im laughing now :D
