I've never been that much of a fan of Tom Cruise. So when Ch4 on Sunday night was showing "Collateral" i wasn't giving it much hope. How wrong i was.I thought Tom Cruise played the part of Vincent really well & i liked the characters mean streak.I thought overall the film was pretty good.

Walk the line - avoided that for ages thinking it'd be terrible, no idea why tho.

I'd have to say Harry Potter too, didnt think that would be good

Apocalypto - I expected some dire historical war thing. Turned out to be a bit more like Predator or something of that ilk - exciting and personal.

A Long Engagement - the DVD box made it look like a slushy romance angsty drama (Which i hate) but it was a very moving, quirky, touching tale. Adored it.

Evan Almighty - didnt think it would be that good because I didnt think much to the first one but it was tons better.

As I have an unlimited card, there's lots of films I've seen just for the sake of it, but have turned out to be pretty good. Have also seen a few stinkers too!!!

A Knight's Tale
My sister got it for me as a Christmas present - we didn't watch it for 8 months because we thought it really wasn't
It's now the most watched film in the house :)
Shame about Heath Ledger really although a sequel would kill it!

One for the oldies: I recently came across a remake of the classic musical "South Pacific" with Glenn Close playing the female lead. I thought this was a case of total mis-casting, as the character is supposed to be a sweet, naive young thing but I decided to give it a try and loved it. By the end, I felt that Glenn had made the role her own and put a totally different take on it.

Good Will Hunting

I thought it was over-hyped Oscar garbage, and I had no interest in watching it. Then I actually caught it on tele one night, and it's one of my favourite films.

Same here, thought it was going to be a mindless English gangster film like Layer Cake

It captures the period and has a sense of humour that these sorts of films are usually lacking, It wasn't an episode of Eastenders transferred to the big screen.

How many of you have seen these films on a big screen or in a front room?
I see a few people mention DVRAB they watched and others at the cinema, I just wondered if where you see it makes any difference to enjoying a film, I know if I go to the Cinema and its a bad one, I get more annoyed than if it was on the telly and I just switch over, but then again if you see it at the Cinema you tend to sit a fillm out and get into the flow rather than switching over in the first twenty minutes so giving it time to grow on you....... i'll shut up now!

Harry Potter.

I only for the first time watched them when they were on ITV couple of weeks ago. Never appealed to me as i thought it was a childish and stupid series after hearing of some geek with glasses eating snot flavoured sweets and Fitz from cracker as some giant.

When i saw them, i got addicted, and the better they get with every movie. Now i cant wait for the next one and consider myself a fan!! lol

I think they were trying to reclaim the Amelie fans that fell in love with the movie rather than trust that they would automatically watch it because of Juenet.
