Films that scarred you the most

what films most made you frightned when you were younger. mine was jaws. nightmare on elm st and halloween. what are yours and have you ever had dreams where you was in them
 
Exorcist!!! When it came out in the seventies I went to see it at the pictures. Regretted it for years.

Perhaps this thread should be in the films not TV progs?
 
Also, The Exorcist...

Until I actually saw the film. Just the idea of the film and the clips I'd seen was enough for me (aged 18!) to sleep with the light on a few times. But the movie itself, while excellent, wasn't half as scary.
 
i remember when i was 10 i was watching jaws and there is a scene where richard dreyfuss sees a corpse head underwater in which the corpse has a eye missing. that scene even now stills scares me when i see it.
 
Robocop. I did see it when I was really young...

The bit where he gets his arm shot off..... I'm really not squeamish about anything now, except for anyone losing limbs... heaRAB are fine, but just not arms or legs!
 
Halloween, I first watched it when I was around 10 and Micheal Myers has scared me ever since even though the film itself isn't that scary to me anymore, the thought of him gives me the willies.
 
I was scared when I first saw 'Signs'. Even though I think it's pretty awful now, and I'm no longer scared by it, I freaked out when I first saw it. There's a scene when an alien steps out from behind a bush and I practically jumped out of my seat.

Oh, and the Lion King :o Certain scenes in that terrified me.
 
I would agree with Event Horizon. I was 20 when I saw it and had been watching scary movie for years, but there was something about this film that really freaked me out. It is a skillfully created film with just the right amount of shock and genuine scares, and the visuals are perfectly done. I am glad it never suffered any sequels. Also, the final moments of Blair Witch (in the cellar) chilled me to the bone.
 
The Exorcist was the first film to really freak me out! I watched it when i was 12 and i couldn't sleep properly for days.

The Omen was another film that scared me.
