I watched a bit of Alfie the other night, why the heck would they remake that, such an insult.
I can understand them remaking historical films where the original wasn't close to the truth and the likes of the new Bond film is probably worth remaking as it is closer to Ian Flemmings book than the previous films. Leave all the Classic films alone.
I don't think they should ever re-make Gigli... ever.
I hope they don't remake The Silence of the Lambs, one of my very favourite films.
They remade Manhunter as Red Dragon but then, that was just to have Anthony Hopkins as Lecter in all three films.
John Carpenter's The Thing wasn't realy a remake. it was his interpretation of the story 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell. Howard Hawks 1950's version The Thing From Another World bared little resemblence the the actual story. So The Thing wasn't really a remake of that film. But i'm nitpicking 'cause I love John Carpenter's film so much
And I hear a remake is planned, why WHY!!????? *shakes fist at money grabbing Hollywood* There is no WAY it can be improved on.
Ah, true. Carpenter's version was much closer to the original story than the good old 1950s "monster in a rubber suit" version.
If they dared remake it again, you just know it would be ruined by fancy CGI graphic effects. Part of the real horror of Carpenter's version was that the creature effects were so visceral. I was absolutely terrified the first time I saw that scene in the dog kennels...
To be fair the original Howard Hawks Scarface, and Brian De Palma's version are in a completely different ball park. One is a well thought out 30s gangster movie, and the other is a balls out, sweary violence fest. Both great but more a case of just having the same name
Hollywood remakes of french movies........
I`m a big fan of these, especially Jean Reno, a prime example is La Femme Nikita, great movie then Hollywood had a sniff and it became just another star vehicle.....
Films like Les Rivi
