Films that Hollywood should never remake

Do what

What films do you think Hollywood should never touch, seeing as they are good enough on their own?

Battle Royale should never be remade.

100% with you on that, classic film.
I'd never want to see any of the Spaghetti westerns by sergio leone remade.

Except it seems he remade the same film again and again. Or is it just I get all the plots mixed up as I usually watch them late at night when the vino is kicking in :)

She grew up and married tarzan?

Star Wars should never be remade, re mastered, bits added to it - and re sold 18 times (oops too late)

I find it completely annoying and arrogant that Hollywood are re-making such a Japanese classic as Battle Royale and think they can do an ounce of justice to it. It really is one film that should be left alone.

true - but has brought the story to a wider audience - so it's not always a bad thing

wonder if they will do the sequals?

I haven't seen IA - it was on film 4 the other night but quite late and I haven't seen the departed yet but everyone says it's ace and does the original justice

They should leave Japanese cinema alone now, although they seemed to have oddly steered clear of Takashi Miike's films ("Audition" , "Visitor Q", "Ichi the Killer"). I wonder why...

And as for re-hashing horror classics (Chainsaw Massacre, The Fog, The Omen) they'd better not touch John Carpenter's "The Thing" (which was itself a remake)
