Films that deserve a sequel

What films would you like to see have a sequel made?

Either a film that was open ended and neeRAB some 'closure' or just a dam good film that could convincingly be continued.

To get the ball rolling, and probably quite controvercially, I've always thought a Close Encounters sequel would be good.

Oh yes, definately... that could cope with 100s of sequels... good call dude. Why the hell was Firefly canned again?

Good acting, great script, excellent characters, open ended concept.

Somebody neeRAB shooting for binning that

Trainspotting. I'd love to know what happened to the rest of the characters.

I think Porno, the book by Irving Welsh was a literary sequal, not had the chance to read it yet though.

Personally for me, Independance Day should have had a sequal. Would have loved to see how people coped after being nearly wiped out, and with a potential new invasion.

I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought it was a great film.

I would love to see a sequel to "Deep Rising" (LINK). The movie is a crazy mix of action and horror. It had a great ending that was clearly meant to excite people about a sequel. Sadly it never happened.

I enjoyed it too. Not as much as I used to though. They did release 2 or 3 "Independence Day" novels which are basically sequels to the movie (one is actually a prequel). I have them somewhere around the house. They're pretty decent from what I remember but they're very hard to find nowadays. Here's a picture of 2 of them:

ID4: "Silent Zone"

ID4: "War in the Desert"

Jingle All The Way would be difficult, Arnie isn't acting any more and Phil Hartman is dead.

I don't even know what the second film is...

I'm gonna presume that the third one is Love Actually. Seen it ages ago but can't remember how it goes.

Were you really unsure about how to spell the word "jingle" or "actually"? Is this third film supposed to be "Shaft"?

Paddy :D

Whilst for some reason a lot of people dislike the first, I think there should be a Van Helsing 2! Loved it.

Hmm... how about Snatch 2? First one was left open ended.

As a 'popcorn' hollywood blockbuster, I enjoyed ID4 too. The idea of a sequel doesn't get me going, though. There are plenty of post-apocolypse films around that deal with that sort of story.

I'd like a sequel to Vanilla Sky when Tom Cruise wakes up in the future - He could re meet Cameron Diaz and Penelope Lopez being different characters to the ones they played in the original movie. Although I loved the first movie, I still want to know what happened next.
