Film4 80s film season

It is a great film. I remember sitting in the cinema nearly dying from laughing. The scene of him hanging onto the statue penis and (for some reason) 'Hey! It's Enrico Polazzo!' just slayed me.
Shame that the law of diminishing returns kicked in almotst immediately for the sequels.

Terrific film.

Probably wouldn't have seen it if I'd just read the synopsis but Barry Norman on "Film - whatever" absolutely raved about it.

Best version of Twist and Shout ever.

Most of the better movies where made in the 80's. Top Gun was recently shown (prob 2 weeks ago) on ITV/HD, it's a shame that Film4 aren't HD.

Like someone said, most of them such as Ferris, Footloose, Top Gun have all been on Sky HD before Xmas.

Aliens is superb,Naked Gun is very funny and all of the John Hughes films are enjoyable.

But how Top Gun became such a huge hit boggles the mind...

Presumably because it was the 1st film to use actual military footage. Before this film, no one could get permission to film within a Military ground etc.

The same goes I guess for the Arnie film 'Red Heat' which uses the famous Russia Square or whatever it is, again it was the 1st to be given permission to do so.
